Profile Design
|
 |
Use our design resources to help you design the profile that will deliver results in your finished product.
Design in the features and benefits available from the extrusion process. Don’t be held hostage by the properties and shapes of the materials you used before.
There are a few practicalities to consider:
- Choose the right alloy for the applications
- The strength of the profile will depend on its shape and the thickness of the profiles' elements
- An extrusion of uniform thickness is easiest to produce but the process allows thickness to vary where necessary
- From a commercial point of view a profile that is “extrusion process friendly” will allow the extruder to deliver on time every time, and that’s what you need too.
- Think about assembly and functions to include in the profile design:
- - Screw ports
- - Bolt slots
- - Snap-fit locks
- - Cooling flanges
- - Joint functions
- - Anti-slip surfaces
- - Moulding channels
